Making Memes with PicMonkey

Come join us at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, at Arlington Community Church, 1715 W Randol Mill Rd, when we welcome author Varina Denman as she presents "Making Memes with PicMonkey."

What is a meme and why do writers need to know how to make them?

According to Google® memes are a humorous image, video, piece of text, etc., that is copied (often with slight variations) and spread rapidly by Internet users. In other words, a meme is a short phrase, a piece of information, a profound thought, set to a creative background. Writers should learn to make them in order to have your name, branding and books in front of your reader, giving you a type of advertising, especially when they go viral. And besides, they’re just plain fun.

Laptops, although not mandatory, are welcome for this interactive presentation. Explore the ins and outs of PicMonkey all while Denman illustrates how to work with it.

Denman writes stories about the unique struggles women face. Her award-winning Mended Hearts series, revolving around church hurt, is a compelling blend of women’s fiction and inspirational romance. Her latest novel, Looking Glass Lies, releases in May from Waterfall Press. Her debut novel “Jaded” won the ACFW Genesis Contest, the BRMCWC Selah Award, and the INSPY’s Bloggers’ Award for Excellence in Faith-Driven Literature. In addition to her new release, Denman is the author of the “Mended Hearts” Series.

A native Texan, Denman lives near Fort Worth with her husband and five mostly grown children with whom she has homeschooled. To learn more about Denman and her writing, visit:  https://varinadenman.com/ or https://www.facebook.com/varina.denman/.

Plotting- Don't Re-Invent the Wheel

Please join us Saturday, March 11, 2017, at 10:30am at Arlington Community Church as we welcome author Michelle Stimpson when she presents, “Plotting – Don’t Reinvent the Wheel.”
As Stimpson explains, “in this workshop, we’ll explore tried and true archetypes and tropes, helping authors understand that you don’t need to reinvent the wheel to write the next Great American novel.
Stimpson, a national best-selling author knows what she’s talking about in regards to plotting, as can be seen on her website dubbed with the words - Where Writing and Faith Got Married. A prolific writer, she is the author of multiple award-winning fiction and Bible-based, non-fiction books, as well as writing and career change books. She writes real. Real life, wrapped in a good story. One only has to glance at the titles and read the blurbs to know that her books are filled with humor, heart and healing! Her “Mama B,” “Boaz Brown,” “A Few Good Men,” and “What About” book series’ are just a few of those on her author shelf.
Along with her full-time writing career Stimpson is a speaker and an educator with a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Texas Arlington.
